James Packer’s company PBL and its partner Melco have announced plans to build a third casino in Macau. The Trinity Casino will be located in the main peninsula area of Macau and is expected to cost more than $767 million. Construction will start this year and will be completed by late 2010.
The companies told the press that the Trinity complex would consist of two towers. One of the buildings will have serviced apartments and the other will house a boutique hotel and a casino with 215 gambling tables, including roulette, blackjack and baccarat, and 500 poker machines.
PBL and Melco own two other projects in Macau: the Crown Macau, which opened earlier this year, and the City of Dreams, still under construction. The Crown is smaller than the Trinity with 222 gambling tables, 550 poker machines and 216 hotel rooms but the City of Dreams will be the largest with more than 450 gaming tables, 2,500 poker machines, 1,600 rooms and two towers of serviced apartments.
Architect Paul Steelman, who was in charge of designing the Sands casino in Macau, and New York-based Pei Partnership were hired by the partners to design the Trinity.
